At Saltbox Home Design, we believe that your home tells your unique story. We strive to create thoughtfully curated spaces; taking cues from your lifestyle, personality and from the style you envision for your everyday surroundings. Built to stand the test of time, our designs deliver both function and beauty.

Whether you're looking to create a cozy retreat, a traditional beauty, or a modern masterpiece, we can bring your vision for your home to life. From selecting hard materials in the early stages of a build, to layout and color scheme, furniture choices and accessories, to finding the perfect vintage accents, we are here to help with the whole process.

Meredith grew up in Connecticut and Cape Cod and inherited her love of design from her parents. She says:

I have been doing design work for decades and, recently inspired by my late parents, I am now sharing my expertise more broadly.  I grew up in a family of artists and artisans. My parents valued beautiful living environments and knew how to create them…sometimes on the fly. It wasn’t uncommon for my mother and father to add some crown moulding or build up the mantelpiece over a cup of morning coffee.  Lumber was always on hand, as readily available as milk and sugar.  They would discuss it and then just do it - and it always looked great. They loved architectural details; one year I got a newel post for my birthday, long before I owned a home. My mom was a painter who taught us every picture needs a touch of black, paint the sky light grey if you want your colors to pop, and don’t be afraid to fill up the backgrounds of your paintings. My dad loved to build furniture and he could even knit.  He made most of the gifts he gave and, if you were lucky, it would be a piece of furniture that was built to outlive us all.  Once he gave us a bench named “Stargazer” with instructions - only to be used outside at night for watching the stars. My parents taught me how to look for beauty, to find proportion & scale, and not to be afraid to curate an individual style.  These are principals I want to share.
